I am a philosophical ethicist. I wrote my PhD thesis about the relationship between ethics and aesthetics. My research interests include the foundations of moral and political philosophy (particular related to human rights issues), philosophical anthropology (practical self-understanding), bioethics, ethics of technology and climate ethics.

• 2003-2020 I was director of the Ethics Institute at Utrecht University.
